Bienvenue!

Phil has developed a successful and diverse consultancy portfolio, underpinned by an outstanding track record. His enterprising and innovative approaches to leadership have consistently placed Phil in the vanguard of educational practice. His career is punctuated with evidence of high quality and enduring impact. Phil has enjoyed working as an educational leader for over three decades, the majority of this time as the outstanding head teacher of a large, special, specialist and Training/Teaching school (1993-2008).  He has worked as a consultant since 2000.

In 2006 Phil became one of the first 67 National Leaders in Education (NLEs), in 2007 Phil became a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Travelling Fellow and in 2008 he was awarded a CBE by HM the Queen. Since 2000, Phil has successfully combined his role as head teacher with a growing portfolio of commissions providing consultancy for schools, academies, MATs, LAs and government agencies in the UK and beyond (as an External Adviser, NPQH Tutor, NLE, OfSTED Inspector, SIP etc.). In 2008 Phil emigrated to France to fulfil a life-long dream and launch a successful tourism business with his wife; he returned to live in north Dorset in 2018.  Phil continues to work on consultancy projects, in the UK and abroad for 3-4 months a year. Using a coaching and evidence-led approach, Phil delivers high quality, sustainable outcomes. He particularly enjoys being involved in system-wide, transformational change projects (e.g. his on-going collaboration with the British Council [and Ruskin Education] and the Ministry of National Education in Algeria, including amost 20 visits to Algeria since 2012). Phil has organised and facilitated successful visits for international delegations to the UK and presented at international conferences in 2015 and 2016.  He was the Course Director for the very successful Regional Hornby Summer School promoting inclusive practice across the Maghreb (in collaboration with the British Council) in 2017.  In 2018, Phil enjoyed working with the British Council and the Ministry of Education in Montenegro, evaluating the impact of CPD on a national basis.

Phil continues to support UK schools, promoting positive mental health outcomes for pupils, staff and the wider community - he particularly enjoys supporting performance reviews for CEOs and Head teachers.  During 2020-22 he has become proficient in the use of MS Teams and Zoom!
